Nairobi Legalizes Gambling and Establishes Taxes for Gambling Operators

The Assembly of the Urban District of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, adopted the Decision on Gambling and the Regulator of the Gambling Business.

The gambling industry in Nairobi will be overseen by the Betting, Lottery and Gambling Control Board, which will include nine members.

The agency will issue licenses that are valid for one year (renewable).

Operators will have to pay for a public lottery license – $ 26,200, for an application for the issuance of such a license – $ 6,550, for the renewal of this license – $ 6,550. Gambling operators are required to pay tax – 10% of gross proceeds from betting, lotteries and gambling.
